#WomanontheMove Spotlight On O’Shea Strengths Coaching

#WomanontheMove Spotlight on O’Shea Strengths Coaching

As a Strengths Coach at her company, O’Shea Strengths Coaching, Kristen O’Shea specializes in helping organizations increase efficiency and effectiveness in their greatest asset – people.  She does this by leveraging their strengths or innate talents. This includes a combination of measuring employee engagement, team training sessions, individual coaching sessions and strategic consulting. She also provides services in individual coaching for individuals to leverage their strengths towards their goals or challenges. Aside from training workshops for companies and families to celebrate strengths, she also speaks at conferences and events.

She believes that her unique style of empowering women comes from giving time, a listening ear and connection to others along with encouragement. We asked her a few questions about her journey, mindset and lifestyle as an entrepreneur.

1. What are the most impactful life lessons that you’ve learned to date, in relation to the woman you’ve become?

  • I never want to complain about something unless I am committed to being part of the solution.
  • There aren’t two sides to every story, there are 50+.
  • I’ve learned everyone has imposter syndrome, everyone. You’ve just got to put yourself out there and choose confidence over waiting for the feeling to come. When you choose it, the feeling comes.
  • In all things, to God be the Glory! He is the giver of all.
  • If you don’t listen to your body when it whispers, it will scream at you.

2. How important has mentorship been to your success?

It is the real, raw connection of other humans that keeps us going. It is the gift from God that is the wind to our wings. Mentors help us see what we can not see in ourselves.

3. What are 5 things that have helped you have success in business that every entrepreneur must do to grow?

  • Put yourself out there!
  • Connect to community resources
  • Connect to other entrepreneurs
  • Sell
  • Stability to have the freedom to continue

4. What is one thing that you would have done differently at the beginning or height of your career/journey?

I would have left bad companies and bad bosses sooner, but I had to learn what I needed to. So the timing happened how it should have. Although, I wish I would have stood up for myself more.

5. When in your career have you found it most necessary to collaborate?

Starting…now that I am busier, I have to put my head down and get the work done for clients. I am sure it will go up and down like any cycle.

6. What tools or people were necessary for you to build or scale your business?

Technology, referrals.

7. What are some daily, weekly or monthly practices that help you protect your mental health?

Jazzercise! Family! Good sleep! Jesus time to remember what matters in life. Time to dream, imagine, create. When life is hard, my counselor and pastor are so helpful.

8. What books have helped you grow personally or professionally?
