Making The Most Of Your Staycation

Making the Most of Your Staycation

Let’s face it, being surrounded by countless photos on social media of beautiful people living their “best life,” which is somehow always in Bali, can sometimes make us feel a little discouraged about our own lives, like maybe something is missing. The truth of the matter is that most of us don’t have the time or the funds to drop everything and leave the country every other week, although if you do more power to ya. Thankfully, there is beauty all around you, and no matter where you live or what your budget is, there are endless possibilities for you to have an amazing adventure in your own city!

Not only can a staycation be beneficial to your mental health (and your wallet), it can also give you the opportunity to see your own city in a whole new light.

Without further ado, here are my top tips for a fun and relaxing staycation!

  1. Plan your outfits

I don’t know about you, but I look for any excuse to get dressed up for a day, and a staycation seems as good a reason as any. This is your chance to be as flamboyant or as understated as you want, to wear that piece that you’ve been saving for an unspecified special occasion.

      2.   Take a mental health check

Taking a break from your everyday life, even if it’s just for a few hours, is the perfect opportunity to check in on yourself, to take time and reflect without feeling pressured to have everything figured out.

      3.    Invite your friends…or not

One of the best things about a staycation is that you can tailor it completely to you and your needs. Do you need some time alone? Do you need to spend time with your friends? Family? Your dog? It’s totally up to you, so evaluate what you need the most and get enjoying your mini vacation.

      4.    Don’t put pressure on yourself

In my experience, there seems to be a certain degree of pressure surrounding taking a vacation. There’s pressure to relax, to have fun, to completely forget about your normal life, but in reality, the only thing you need to worry about on your staycation is you!
